Jayde Butler joined our team in January 2022 and has spent the past month settling in to work as a physiotherapist, helping patients to reduce pain, move and feel better. She is currently working Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am -6pm, which means we have a few more after hours spots for those patients who find it difficult to get away from work, kids or other commitments during normal business hours. If this is you, give our front desk team a call on 6056 6616 and we will do our best to find a time that works for you. Jayde took a few minutes out of her patient schedule to answer our “five questions” on what she likes doing outside of work:
1. What’s your favourite thing to do outside of work?
Favourite things to do outside of work? I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy getting my hands dirty in the garden and I also have a passion for weightlifting.
2. How did you get started with lifting weights?
I have always been physically active. During schooling years, I enjoyed cross country and trail running. In my time in the Navy I completed a half marathon and several smaller events. However, in my late 20s and early 30s I have found a passion for lifting. I joined a local gym a few years ago and learned the basic forms and lifts. I then mixed in my budding physiotherapy knowledge and have been challenging myself ever since!
3. Why do you like weightlifting?
Lifting weights provides me with a sense of achievement – if I fail a lift, it makes me hungrier to achieve it in the following week or months. I enjoy learning different ways to strengthen a muscle and how that impacts the body. Furthermore, lifting is fantastic for bone and general health. I have a goal of entering a competition in the later half of this year.
4. Who do you do lift weights with?
I love circuit training and I often run these for my friends and family. Otherwise, I recently purchased a power rack for my home gym, so I can lift at home in my own time.
5. What’s your funniest, scariest or most exciting moment?
Exciting and scary moment! As a mum, I automatically go to when my son, Ollie, was about to enter the world. Other exciting achievements would be completing my degree and gaining employment with Personal Best Physiotherapy.
