If you have injured yourself playing sport, we’re here to help you get back to your best as quickly as possible.  It starts with taking a good history and performing the relevant physical tests to give you a clear diagnosis.  With a clear diagnosis we can begin gentle treatment on Day 1 to assist the healing process and reduce pain and inflammation.  The next step is to show you what you can do to assist your healing at home.  Finally, we set out a plan for your recovery – so you know how long it will be before you are back to your sporting best.  All of this in your first appointment!

Acute Injuries – Ouch, that hurt!

There are 2 main types of sporting injuries: acute and overuse.  In acute injuries direct injury to a body part has occurred and you usually know exactly when it happened!  Something went “ouch!” and you may have heard or felt something “go.” The key to recovery is an accurate diagnosis, protection and support of the injured area and an early active recovery.

Overuse Injuries – Slowing you Down!

With overuse injuries physical stress accumulates over several training sessions, weeks or months without sufficient recovery. The key to recovery is to work out why the problem has developed.  Errors in training programs, faulty movement patterns or other factors affecting recovery are frequently at play.  Is your training volume or intensity too high? Are you tight in certain muscles and weak in others? Or do your movement patterns need a “tune-up” to help you produce force more effectively?  Only a good physiotherapist knows which questions to ask and where to look to answer these questions!
